Education

I graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1975 and East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, in 1983 with a Bachelor's Degree with High Honors and Academic Distinction.

Experience

My first year of teaching was with Quinlan Elementary in third grade where I learned how to work with a team of many teachers.  But, it was a pleasure to go back home to Wolfe City Elementary where I have been for the last 31 years! At Wolfe City Elementary, I have had a wonderful time learning how to teach first graders to read and write,  playing and singing with Pre-K, struggling along with fourth graders in the writing process, and helping reading and math students in the lab. I want to thank the Wolfe City ISD for the numerous workshops and for sending me to other schools to observe which helped me become the best I can be.

Bio

Even though I was born in Dallas, Texas, I am a Wolfe City native. My grandfather Jim Jobe and grandmother Lydia Craig Jobe had a small farm outside of Wolfe City where they had a few cows and grew watermelons. My father Hal Jobe at age 84 still lives in a home across the farm market road from the old homestead where he grew up.  I have listened to many stories of his hard life of working from sun up to sun down in the fields. My mom and her family came from the Ladonia area. My grandfather Sam W. Marshall and grandmother Gladys Weeks Marshall lived on a small farm between Ladonia and Pecan Gap. My mom lives on Santa Fe Street in Wolfe City.  When I was 18 years old I married Don Orum and after living in Commerce and Greenville, decided there was no place like home. We moved back to Wolfe City in 1976 and have lived here ever since.  We have three children: Jacque, Donald, and Amy.  While I have been teaching for 32 years, my husband has framed homes, roofed homes, and drove a truck delivering merchandise all over the U.S.
